EXORCISM is a specialist creature performance company dedicated to advancing the art of creature acting through multi-disciplinary, multi-dimensional, and transformational performance training, creative development, and professional production services.
Founded by creature performer Joss Carter, EXORCISM was created from a simple belief: the world's most compelling creatures are not created by costumes or visual effects alone—they are brought to life by exceptional performers.
Our methodology combines acting, movement, physical theatre, dance, motion and performance capture, voice, improvisation, creature embodiment, psychology, anatomy, prosthetics, and cinematic storytelling into a single, integrated approach to character creation.
Rather than teaching performers to imitate monsters, we guide them through a process of physical, emotional, and imaginative transformation, enabling them to develop believable non-human characters from the inside out.
Working across film, television, motion capture, theatre, immersive experiences, live events, commercials, and experimental performance, EXORCISM provides professional training, bespoke workshops, creative consultation, movement direction, production support, and access to a growing network of specialist creature performers and industry practitioners.
At the heart of EXORCISM is an ongoing commitment to research, experimentation, and collaboration. We continuously investigate new approaches to creature embodiment, movement language, physical transformation, and performance methodologies, bringing together performers, filmmakers, movement specialists, prosthetic artists, and creative professionals to explore the future of creature performance.
More than a training programme or production company, EXORCISM is a creative practice dedicated to redefining creature performance as a respected artistic discipline in its own right—one that values imagination, craftsmanship, collaboration, and continual evolution.
Our philosophy is simple. EXORCISM is not about removing the monsters that hide within.........It is about removing the human. Through structured training, creative exploration, and transformative performance, we invite artists to discover the creatures that already exist within their imagination—and give them life.
